Upper Wapsipinicon WMA Meeting

The Iowa Flood Center will join the Upper Wapsipinicon Watershed Management Authority for their quarterly meeting on Tuesday, August 30th beginning at 1:30 pm at the Buchanan County Courthouse Assembly Room in Independence, IA. IFC staff and project partners will share an update on the activities of the Iowa Watershed Approach (IWA) project. A public meeting has been set for September 8th @ 9:00 AM at the Lake City Community Building to discuss the formation fo a Watershed Management Authority (WMA) for the North Raccoon River Watershed. E & W Nishnabotna WMA Planning Meeting

Prairie on Farms Field Demonstration

The UNI Tallgrass Prairie Center is hosting  a field day demonstration for their Prairie on Farms Project. The field day will be held on September 14th in Dysart at the Luze Family Farm. Participants will have the opportunity to look at seven in-field prairie strips, one saturated buffer, and a prairie buffer strip. Prairie plantings provide multiple benefits to a farm including help with flood reduction, nutrient reduction, soil conservation, promote wildlife and are important for pollinators. Turkey River WMA Meeting
